Does my child need to bring bedding?
Your child will need to bring a pillow, fitted sheet, sleeping bag or doona.
What to do if my child is gets home sick
If you suspect they might get home sick, here are a few tips to empower
- Encourage your child to spend time with their friends and talk to a trusted adult/teacher if they are feeling homesick.
- Have a few sleepovers with friends or family to grow in confidence about being away from home
- Bring items that they enjoy and reminds them of home like their favourite teddy, book or maybe some photos.
- Talk positively and expectantly about the camp. “I will miss you because I love and care for you. I know that you will have a great time and I look forward to hearing about all of your adventures and that makes me feel better.”
- Research and learn about the camp, the activities, accommodation, etc. Show your child our website!
- Talk to older siblings or friends in older grades that may have been on the camp before.
If you or your child are still feeling anxious about coming on camp, consider talking with other parents and teachers from your child's school, or call our friendly staff to have a chat.
My Child has special dietary needs or is a fussy eater. Will they get enough to eat while away?
Log Cabin Camps kitchen team are well experienced in providing for a wide variety of dietary requirements including diabetics, FODMAP, gluten, and dairy free and religious dietary requirements. We always provide fresh meals to keep campers well fed and nourished.
